Children's Illustrator visits local elementary schools | Arts & Culture
Title (Max 100 Characters)
Students at Carmel Elementary and Indian Knoll Elementary welcomed author and illustrator Peter Brown who was on a nationwide book tour for his latest book, Creepy Carrots. Brown visited with more than a thousand students between both schools and brought along a multimedia presentation showing his earliest stories and pictures from his own elementary school days which was very relatable for the students. Although Brown usually writes and illustrates his own books, in the case of Creepy Carrots who just did the illustrations; the story was by author Aaron Reynolds.
In Creepy Carrots, The Twilight Zone comes to the carrot patch in this clever picture book parable about a rabbit who fears his favorite treats are out to get him. Brown said, “I love showing the children that they can be anything they want to be. I think it is important for them to see someone who took a childhood love of writing stories and drawing pictures and turned it into a career.” Mr. Brown’s visit was sponsored by FoxTale Book Shoppe located at 105 East Main Street in Downtown Woodstock.
