Cobb Diaper Day to benefit families in need | Community Spirit
MARIETTA, Ga. -- For low-income families with young children, a few diapers can turn into a priceless gift.
Many people do not realize that food stamps cannot be used to buy hygiene products, including diapers. The average family with small children spends about $100 a month on diapers -- an expense that some low-income families cannot afford to shoulder.
Throughout October, Cobb County officials have worked to collect diapers for local families. They will send the donations to Georgia charities, including C.A.M.P., the Center for Family Resources, MUST Ministries, Reconnecting Families and the YWCA of Northwest Georgia.
At 5 p.m. Monday, all of the diapers collected in October will be brought to Glover Park at Marietta Square. Organizers hope to gather up at least 100,000 diapers for families in need.
