Man arrested for threatening to bomb Cobb courthouse

MARIETTA, Ga. -- An Acworth man has been arrested for calling in a fake bomb threat to the Cobb County courthouse.

Tommie Milan Boleman Jr., 45, was taken into custody Tuesday evening, nearly 12 hours after investigators say he made the false threat at the Cobb County Judicial Complex.

Cobb County Sheriff Neil Warren said Boleman was arrested at a house on Fairwood Pointe in Acworth. The house is under foreclosure and scheduled to be sold on the courthouse steps Tuesday morning.

Boleman is not the owner of the home, Warren said. Investigators are working to determine his relationship to the owner.

After the threat was made, a bomb squad swept the judicial center, but found nothing explosive.

"We will not tolerate anyone trying to intimidate our court officials, our prosecutors and our citizens coming to the Cobb County courthouse to conduct business," Warren said in a statement. "As far as I am concerned, the deputies responding to this situation did an outstanding job, and I am proud of their efforts."

Boleman is being held without bond in the Cobb County Jail on a number of charges, including terroristic threats, disrupting a public meeting and making false statements.
