Night at the Museum returns to Tellus

CARTERSVILLE, Ga. -- Science and science fiction come to life at Tellus Museum with its popular Night at the Museum events.

Based on the film franchise of the same name, Night at the Museum features a cast of more than 50 characters, including some of the greatest names in history and fiction, such as Albert Einstein, Amelia Earhart, Data from "Star Trek," Ripley from Alien and many more.

"We really wanted to do something different this year for Night at the Museum, and bringing in the best of science fiction seemed like a perfect fit," said Joe Schulman, Tellus marketing director.

The cast is composed of the local Pumphouse Players, as well as a Star Wars costuming organization called the 501st Legion.

The third edition of Night at the Museum is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 6 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. and will include exciting experiments conducted by the Tellus Mad Scientists and free planetarium shows.

"This is a unique and fun event for the entire family," said Jose Santamaria, Tellus museum director. "Where else can you see Albert Einstein, H.G. Wells and Imperial Storm Troopers in the same museum?"

All attending children will receive free autograph books for characters to sign.

Last year's Night at the Museum brought in more than 1,400 visitors. The numbers are expected to be even higher this year.

"Night at the Museum has always been a family event, but this year it's going to be something adults are really going to enjoy sharing with their kids," Schulman said.

Tickets are $10 for Tellus members and $20 for non-members. To buy tickets, call the museum at 770-606-5700 ext. 431.

Tellus Museum is located at 100 Tellus Drive in Cartersville.
