Paula Deen Visits Woodstock's BJ's Wholesale

It is not everyday that an American icon comes to Woodstock which made today very exciting for local Paula Deen fans.  Paula-fever was in the air!  Fans such as 11 year old Hunter Ongeri began arriving hours in advance to make sure they got to meet their idol.  With her southern charm and no-nonsense approach, Paula has become a fan favorite for both kids and adults.  Paula and her husband, Michael, arrived at Woodstock's BJ's about 4:30pm this beautiful Sunday afternoon in a custom tour bus that could not be missed.  Paula's image adorns the huge bus along with a picture of her latest book, "Paula Deen's Southern Cooking Bible."  Paula, not one to sit still, had a book signing earlier in the day in Greenville, SC.

Cobb Toilet Rebate Program

Cobb Toilet Rebate Program

Cobb:  You might be surprised to know that the biggest water waster inside you house is your toilet. That's why a lot of metro Atlanta counties are practically giving away low flow toilets threw rebate programs.

Kathy Nguyen isn't shy or bashful when it comes to talking about toilets. She works for the Cobb Water Department but she also participated in their toilet rebate program.  "I have seen our water bill drop by a 1000 gallons and for us that's pretty significant sense our average use is really around 3000 gallons a month... We're down to 2000 gallons a month," Kathy said.

Summer in Georgia & peaches for weeks: What to do with those sweet GA peaches

Summer in Georgia & peaches for weeks: What to do with those sweet GA peaches

Atlanta, GA --  The blog Running With Tweezers has a great article including a variety of great recipes for this year's peaches.  If you have had one of this year's peaches you know they are just delicious!!!  Whether you want to make ice cream, a cake or a cobbler, @RunningWithTweezers.com has the perfect recipe for you.

Around here, we’re really fortunate to have summers full of local peaches. Growing up, they were one of my dad’s favorite foods and they made appearances at our house fairly regularly. Sliced on pound cake or angel food cake, on top of cottage cheese the old school way. In the colder months, he’d even eat canned peaches straight up with a spoon. While I’m not a proponent of the tinned variety, I’m a huge fan of the fresh ones grown here in the South.
