Man drowns in Lake Acworth | News

ACWORTH, Ga. -- A man drowned off South Shore Park on Lake Acworth Sunday after falling off a paddle board.

Members of the victim's party called 911 when they saw him go under the water and not resurface.

According to Acworth Police Chief Wayne Dennard Jr., the witnesses were able to give first responders an approximate location where the 55-year-old victim went under.

Cobb County Fire rescuers located the man's body about an hour later. His identity has not been released, pending notification of next-of- kin.

Dennard said it was unclear whether the victim was ever wearing a life vest.
