Reward offered for information about stolen guns

ACWORTH, Ga. -- A $5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the thieves who stole firearms from an Acworth gun store.

The burglary occurred in the early morning hours of Friday, Apr. 3. A spokesperson for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said someone broke into Liberty Guns in the 2400 block of Cedarcrest Road and took dozens of firearms.

The ATF is offering $2,500 for information. That amount will be matched by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, for a total reward of up to $5,000.

"ATF takes this crime very seriously," ATF Special Agent in Charge Carl Walker said in a release. "There are 36 firearms on the street, with the strong potential of being sold to or used by other criminals to commit violent crimes."

Anyone with information in the burglary is asked to call the ATF Gun Hotline at 1-800-ATF-GUNS or the Paulding County Sheriff's Office at 770-443-3010. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
