Cobb offers Intro to Mountain Biking class

ACWORTH, Ga. -- Cobb County's Outdoor Romping and Creek Stomping summer program continues with a special mountain biking seminar in Acworth.

Intro to Mountain Biking will be held Wednesday, June 26 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the county corps property, which is located at 5690 Old Stilesboro Road.

The class is $2 per participant. It is recommended for budding bikers who are at least 10 years old.

ACWORTH, Ga. -- Registration is open for Acworth's summertime day camp.

Camp Acworth features age-appropriate activities for children in elementary and middle school. Participants enjoy traditional camp fun, such as swimming, canoeing, hiking and archery. There are also field trips to such attractions as Zoo Atlanta and the World of Coca-Cola.

The weekly rate is $95 for Acworth residents and $110 for non-residents.

ACWORTH, Ga. -- Registration is underway for the Acworth Football and Cheerleading Association's 2013 season.

The program is designed for children ages 4-12 and teaches them the fundamentals of cheerleading and football. A flag football program for 3 and 4 year olds is also scheduled to begin soon.

Sign up online no later than May 31 to take advantage of a special rate -- $150 for Acworth residents and $170 for non-residents. Onsite registration will be held Saturday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Halbrooks Field.

Classic Car Cruise returns this weekend

Classic Car Cruise returns this weekend

ACWORTH, Ga. -- A Classic Car Cruise will be held in downtown Acworth this weekend.

The fun will take place on Main Street on Saturday, Mar. 30 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Several classic cars will be on display at the free event. A $2 entry fee is required for all cars in the show.

Proceeds from the Classic Car Cruise will benefit Acworth's Horizon Field.

An official for Cobb County said camps this summer will cover a variety of interests, including arts and performance, recreation, tennis, golf, and therapeutics for those with special needs. Registration start dates and times vary across programs. A list is provided below.

KENNESAW, Ga. -- The Golden Soldiers recently named Kennesaw State University athletic director Vaughn Williams to its board of directors.

The Golden Soldiers is a faith-based non-profit that hosts events, activities and service opportunities for families and individuals living with developmental disabilities, all while promoting the Golden Rule.
